When we took clients sailing on Fetch, they turned to us in their quest for a 77’ ‘Ferrari di Mare’ wondering if such a high performance yacht could also have the amenities of a superyacht. This initiated Black Pearl, a beautifully executed example of our modern state-of-the-art designs. She is great for trans-oceanic sailing, world cruising, and Café Racing, where participating in regattas is equal parts racing and regaling in the local scene.

The creation of a 77’ sailing yacht with full equipment and dynamic sailing, is demanding on so many fronts. Technology is the keystone, and played a role in all areas on Black Pearl. Technology is what permits the Café Racer concept to exist, and design is what brings it to life. To assimilate interior living with life on deck we opted for a raised salon solution. The design emphasizes clean, flowing shapes, an uninterrupted 270-degree view from inside, both sitting and standing, and a deck that appears to flow into the salon through the windows.

The very first time the owner sailed Black Pearl, he turned her upwind and she accelerated to 10 knots in 9 knots of breeze. We believe that is an honest measure of success.
