The Jetstream 38 is a new jetboat design from the office of Tripp Design. This boat is a sailor’s power boat, built with a purpose -- as a commuter and family week-ender. We have designed the boat with a unique look, building a modern boat on top of the American tradition of Commuter Boats, given it the feel of a sports coupe, and added a jewel-like quality.

The standard boat has 2x 420 hp engines installed for a maximum speed of around 38 knots. Crazy Horse (Hull #1) tops out at 44 knots using turbo charged Volvo-Penta diesels at 480hp each coupled to KaMeWa waterjets. That amount of power doesn’t need to be intimidating. By the joystick control the vessel, can be maneuvered sideways into the dock with one hand. With her speed, the boat can range quickly between Newport and Nantucket. With her very low draft she can go just about anywhere.

Developing on impressions from Venetian Water Taxis, styling and detail were given a very high priority throughout design and construction. The vessel has exceptional spaces above and below decks. In the cockpit a central table provides the main focal point for socializing. The settee accommodates up to 6 people under the protection of the fixed top. Visibility is absolutely unparalleled with the distinctive wrap-around windshield, similar to our pilothouse sailboats. Additional seating in the rear section of the cockpit makes for a comfortable terrace. Below decks, the main area provides good space to prepare dinner and drinks. Quarterberths and the forward V-berth make overnighting with a family comfortable, with the accessible from either the main or private cabin.

The boat is built to ABS regulations. Advanced composite technologies utilizing kevlar and vacuum bagged construction adapted from sailing yacht design yield a low structural weight with robustness and strength. This in turn allows the boat to be very powerful and fast.
